Mature males develop a stunning cobalt-blue body that ranks among the most striking colors found in Malawi cichlids. In the wild they are piscivorous, ambushing smaller fish among rocky outcrops, and this hunting instinct shows in their alert, agile swimming style. They can be somewhat territorial toward their own kind, but a well-planned rockwork layout helps keep tankmates calm.
