The dog category on Bree-Choku lets you welcome puppies of many breeds — toy poodles, Shiba Inu, French bulldogs and more — directly from the breeders who raised them. With no pet shop in between, you can review each puppy's living environment, pedigree, and parent dogs before deciding. Even first-time owners can choose a puppy that fits their household after learning each breed's temperament, exercise needs, and care points.
1Understand each breed's temperament and exercise needs
Even within 'dogs,' required exercise and ideal environments vary widely by breed. Active breeds need daily walks and play, while calmer breeds can do well in mostly indoor settings. Before adopting, confirm the breed genuinely fits your home, family makeup, and daily rhythm.
2Estimate the lifetime cost
Beyond the initial adoption cost, dogs incur ongoing expenses for food, vaccines, grooming, pet insurance, and medical care throughout their lives. Costs vary by breed and size, so plan a budget that accounts for both monthly fixed costs and unexpected medical bills.
3Make the most of the socialization period
Roughly 3–14 weeks of age is the 'socialization period,' when exposure to people, other dogs, and household sounds strongly shapes adult temperament. Gentle, varied experiences during this window help a puppy grow into a calm adult. After adoption, expand their world gradually and without overwhelming them.
4Receive an in-person explanation from a licensed seller
In Japan, selling a puppy legally requires the licensed handler to let you view the animal in person and provide a face-to-face explanation of key matters. This is an important chance to check the puppy's health, temperament, and care notes directly. Bree-Choku is built around in-person interaction so you can adopt with full confidence.
5Know the vaccination and health-care schedule
Puppies receive several rounds of combination vaccines, followed by annual boosters, rabies shots, and heartworm/flea-tick prevention. Confirm the puppy's vaccination status with the breeder, choose a regular veterinary clinic early, and set up a health-care plan.
6Puppy-proof your home and prepare a safe space
Curious puppies can turn power cords, small swallowable objects, and steps into unexpected hazards. Clear away dangers within reach and prepare a calm space such as a pen or bed before adoption. A secure environment also makes toilet training go more smoothly.
7Confirm the time commitment and family agreement
Life with a dog typically lasts 10–15 years or more. Beyond daily walks, meals, training, and play, you must also plan for time alone and care during travel. Before adopting, discuss roles and responsibilities with the whole family and make sure everyone agrees.
