Peckoltia compta
A small pleco with dark oblique bands over a yellow ground, found in the Tapajos basin in Brazil and reaching only about 6cm standard length. The IUCN assesses it as Endangered because of hydroelectric development.
Peckoltia compta is a small loricariid catfish of the Tapajos basin in Brazil. It was described in 2010 by Renildo Ribeiro de Oliveira and Jansen Zuanon of the National Institute of Amazonian Research, Lucia Rapp Py-Daniel, and Marcelo Salles Rocha of Amazonas State University, primarily on the basis of coloration and patterning. The specific name compta means adorned and refers to the distinctive dark oblique bands over a yellow ground. FishBase records 6.2cm standard length, small even for the genus Peckoltia. It is traded as the leopard frog pleco or by its number, L-134. The IUCN assesses it as Endangered because its habitat and population have been severely affected by existing and proposed hydroelectric projects. FishBase holds no pH, hardness or temperature record for this species.

Sinking dried foods, frozen bloodworm and vegetables
A small species of about 6cm standard length. Build cave-like retreats from rockwork over fine sand and add driftwood, providing at least one refuge per fish.
FishBase holds no pH, hardness or temperature record for this species, so no figures are given here. The Tapajos, where it lives, is a clear tropical river.
No reliable primary source on this species' own compatibility could be confirmed. As a small bottom-dweller, pairing it with fishes that use other levels is the usual approach.
Peckoltia species are omnivores that take both animal and plant foods, so combine sinking dried foods with frozen bloodworm and vegetables. The genus does not depend on wood alone.
No primary source on captive breeding of this species could be confirmed.
The IUCN assesses it as Endangered, with habitat alteration by hydroelectric projects the main threat. It is not listed by CITES. Acclimatise new fish carefully.
