Brochis agassizii is a small callichthyid catfish from the Amazon basin near the border of Peru and Brazil, moved out of Corydoras agassizii in the 2024 generic revision. FishBase records 5.2cm standard length and Seriously Fish gives 70mm. Steindachner's original description notes that the first three dorsal-fin rays are completely black while the remainder is whitish with rows of small brownish spots, that the ventral fins are unmarked and yellowish, and that the caudal fin is bluish-white with three to five transverse rows of brown spots. Colour pattern is variable, however, and Seriously Fish states that the name is commonly misapplied to similar-looking fishes and that identification is difficult even when the collection locality is known. Aquarium conditions are 22-27C, pH 6.0-8.0 and 2-12dGH. It is peaceful and gregarious and should be kept in groups of at least four to six. The IUCN Red List assesses it as Least Concern.
