The Thai Ridgeback Dog is an old breed recorded in Thai documents some 350 years ago, used mainly for hunting in eastern Thailand and also as a cart escort and watchdog. Poor transport links and devoted owners kept the breed pure and unchanged for centuries. Muscular and athletic with a ridge of hair along its back, it is enduring, agile, an excellent jumper, and loyal enough to make a fine family dog for active owners.
