About this condition
An acute gastrointestinal infection caused by parvovirus, most common and most fatal in puppies. Vaccination is the most reliable means of prevention.
Common symptoms
- Severe vomiting
- Bloody stools
- Rapid dehydration
- High fever
- Complete loss of appetite
Common causes
- Oral infection with parvovirus
- Lack of vaccination
- High incidence in puppies
Prevention (husbandry & daily care)
Proper vaccination program (combination vaccine). Don't take unvaccinated puppies to public areas.
