About
The Norwegian Elkhound Grey is a very old breed, said to be among the most ancient animals originating on the Scandinavian peninsula. From around the 8th century the Norsemen used it to hunt elk and bear, as a sled dog in winter, as a livestock guardian and even as a bird dog, and Vikings reportedly took it on their expeditions. A typical spitz with a tightly curled tail and grey coat with black-tipped guard hairs, it is fearless, energetic and bold, needing generous daily exercise.
