Danio tinwini, the gold ring danio, was described in 2009 from the Mogaung Chaung in Kachin State, northern Myanmar, the same Irrawaddy tributary system as the glowlight danio. FishBase gives a maximum of 2.2 cm SL for males and 2.6 cm for females. Its lateral stripe is broken into spots that appear ringed in gold, giving it its name. Sharing features such as an absent lateral line and spotted pelvic fins, it is thought to be close to D. nigrofasciatus, though the patterns tell them apart. FishBase places it in Danio, while Seriously Fish uses Brachydanio. It is named after a collector and exporter of ornamental fish in Myanmar. Peaceful, it suits a community tank if companions match its tiny size. In Japan it is sold by specialist shops as a nano fish.
