About
White's tree frog (Litoria caerulea) is a large arboreal tree frog distributed across northeastern Australia and New Guinea. Reaching about 7–12 cm in length, its plump build, calm temperament, and bright green coloration make it one of the most popular beginner amphibians worldwide. Hardy and fairly tolerant of drier conditions, it often appears around human dwellings, which is reflected in its Japanese name. As an arboreal species it should be kept in a tall enclosure furnished with branches and live plants, along with a shallow water dish. It is nocturnal and insectivorous, taking crickets, dubia roaches, and mealworms. Because it readily becomes overweight, feeding amounts should be monitored. Long-lived and robust, it is well suited to beginners.
