About this condition
A bacterial infection of the mouth causing inflammation and pus. If untreated, it can progress to tissue necrosis and systemic infection.
Common symptoms
- Swelling around the mouth
- Discharge of pus
- Complete loss of appetite
- Mouth held open

- Wounds in the oral cavity
- Weakened immune system
- Unhygienic environment
Prevention (husbandry & daily care)
Maintain hygiene, proper temperature/humidity, and avoid mouth injuries during feeding (careful tong use).
