The Tibetan Terrier is an ancient companion breed from Tibet, kept for centuries in the monasteries of Lhasa as a sacred luck-bringing guardian. Despite its name it has no terrier character; it also herded, hunted and even supplied wool for clothing. Introduced to Europe in 1925 with a British standard set in 1930, it is a square, long-coated medium dog that is lively, good-natured and loyal, though reserved with strangers.
