Sandalolitha robusta
A large, free-living fungiid, circular to oval and dome-shaped, with no axial furrow and compact, separate corallites. Colour ranges from pale to dark brown or green, sometimes with white corallite centres.
Sandalolitha robusta is a fungiid coral found across the Indo-Pacific. Colonies are free-living rather than attached, circular to oval, dome-shaped and heavily built. Unlike related genera it has no axial furrow, and the corallites holding the polyps are compact and separate from one another. Each corallite is bordered by alternating wide and narrow septa bearing serrated spines, and the septa vary little in height, which separates it from Sandalolitha dentata, a species that is irregular in shape, less domed and has widely spaced corallites. Colour ranges from pale to dark brown or green, sometimes mottled, sometimes with purple margins and white corallite centres. Tentacles are normally extended only at night. It is common in most reef habitats. As a scleractinian it is on CITES Appendix II, and the IUCN rates it Least Concern.

The ideal temperature for the Sandalolitha is 24〜26℃.
Origin
Indo-Pacific, common in most reef habitats.
Temperature
24〜26℃
Mainly nutrition from its zooxanthellae; tentacles are extended only at night to catch zooplankton.
Moderate light is enough; LiveAquaria lists fungiid plate corals as moderate-light corals. It does not need to sit under the brightest part of the tank.

Rest it on a fine sand bed. AlgaeBarn recommends low to moderate flow for fungiids. The skeleton is heavy and the colony gets large, so set it on a stable, level base.
Water 24-26C, specific gravity 1.023-1.025 (salinity 33-35 ppt), pH 8.1-8.4, KH 8-12, calcium 380-440 ppm, magnesium 1300-1400 ppm.
It only extends its tentacles at night, so feed after lights-out, dropping brine shrimp or micro-plankton over the colony.
The underside rots if buried in sand, and a colony that tips over should be righted. Detritus collects between the corallites, so blow it clear with a turkey baster from time to time. As a scleractinian it is on CITES Appendix II and international trade requires permits.
Beginner. This is a beginner-friendly species. No special equipment or experience is required, and it can be kept successfully with basic care setup.
The ideal temperature for Sandalolitha is 24〜26℃. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
