水溫與水質

水溫25～28℃、pH 6.0～6.5、硬度10 dH以下（FishBase）。由於是流動河川的魚類，需要保持充足的溶氧量，不喜歡有機物堆積，建議每週換水30～50%。

魚缸

由於會潛入砂中，底床必須使用柔軟的細砂。粗礫會傷害身體或影響進食。體長可達20公分以上，需準備較長的魚缸，應先放置流木及石頭，再鋪砂以防倒塌。

混養相容性

與珠星魚及斑馬魚等中上層魚類相容性良好。建議飼養1條或6條以上。雖有小競爭但很少造成傷害。

飼料與投餌

透過過濾砂粒進食搖蚊幼蟲及小甲殼類。以沉底人工飼料為基礎，配合豐年蝦、水蚤、紅蟲等冷凍或活飼料。

繁殖與產卵

人工飼養條件下尚無繁殖紀錄。

健康與注意事項

以流通名 A. choirorhynchos 販售的個體中可能混有多種。由於不同資料對推薦水溫的建議存在差異，購買前應確認賣家的飼養水溫。

1. 1Sandy substrate

   This loach burrows, so lay a fairly deep bed of fine, smooth sand. Coarse or sharp gravel can injure the body and mouth area, so it is best avoided.

2. 2Adult size

   It grows to over 20 cm, with a maximum standard length of 25 cm. Even if it is small when you bring it home, plan for a tank with a large floor area.

3. 3Temperament

   It is a calm fish and does not pair well with aggressive species or those that compete for the bottom. If harassed, it may stay buried and rarely come out, so keep it with peaceful tank mates.

   Sitting buried with only the eyes showing is natural behavior for this fish. If it stays hidden for a long time or looks thinner, check the water quality and whether it is eating.

   It forages along the bottom, so sinking foods suit it well. Watch that other fish are not eating everything first. Uneaten food can get lost in the sand and foul the water, so feed modestly.

   Loaches can be sensitive to sudden water changes and to some medications. Change water gradually, and check the label for suitability and precautions before using any treatment.

7. 7Escape-proofing

   With its long, slim body, it can slip out through small gaps around pipes and cables. Fit a secure lid and close any openings before bringing it home.
