繁殖·产卵

9月中旬起，在直径5～8mm的生活艾草等茎秆上咬出伤口，插入产卵管每次产卵数个。卵于翌年6月中旬孵化，故产卵需准备活的艾草株。

寿命·饲养周期

成虫出现于8～11月，从夏末到深秋约2个月可听到鸣声，但单个个体的成虫寿命较短。

作为蟋蟀科昆虫，飞行能力特别强，无盖容器中会立即飞出逃脱。国内长尾树蟋属5种中，仅长尾树蟋的腹部腹面呈黑色（某些个体不呈黑色），购买时可作为辨别依据。
