About
Norman's lampeye (Poropanchax normani) is a tiny killifish relative from the rivers and wetlands of West and Central Africa. Just 3-4 cm long with a modest, semi-transparent silvery body, its defining feature is the upper half of each eye, which glows a brilliant metallic blue, the lamp eye. In a school, countless blue eye-glints sparkle in unison for a striking effect. Extremely peaceful, it is best kept in groups of ten or more, in soft to neutral water within a calm, well-planted tank. Its mouth is small, so feed micro flakes, fine prepared foods, and frozen baby brine shrimp. Hardy and easy to keep, this small, gentle fish is ideal alongside shrimp and other nano species. It tends to jump, so use a lid. Though a killifish relative, it is not an annual species and lives 2-3 years in good conditions.
