The French Angora (Oryctolagus cuniculus) is one of four Angora breeds recognized by ARBA, descending from Angora rabbits that originated in Ankara and reached France in 1723. Its defining trait is a clean face and front feet with only minor tufting on the rear legs. The dense undercoat carries many guard hairs and feels silky, but mats more readily than other Angoras, so daily combing is essential and the wool is sheared at moult. ARBA color groups are Agouti, Broken, Pointed White, Self, Shaded, Ticked and Wide Band. It is treated as a distinct breed from the generic Angora rabbit entry.
