The Mudi is a Hungarian herding breed created in the 18th-19th centuries by crossing Hungarian herding dogs with prick-eared German herding dogs. Popular with shepherds for gathering flocks over wide areas, it also hunts boar and works as a guard, watch and detection dog, as well as excelling at agility. Highly intelligent, cheerful, brave and adaptable, it lives happily indoors thanks to its short-ish wavy coat but needs plenty of physical and mental exercise.
