The Korea Jindo Dog has lived for centuries on Jindo Island off Korea's southwest coast, where isolation preserved this native breed; locally it is called Jindo Gae or Jindo Gyeon. A well-proportioned medium-sized dog with erect ears and a curled or sickle tail, it projects agility, strength and dignity. Bold, courageous and prudent, famously loyal, never forgetting its first owner, yet reserved with strangers and intolerant of other animals, it has a strong hunting instinct, keeps itself clean and eats modestly, making it best suited to experienced owners.
