About
The English Pointer descends from Spanish or Portuguese dogs brought to Britain during the War of the Spanish Succession (1703-1714), later refined with Foxhound, Bloodhound and Greyhound blood into one of Britain's masterpiece gun dog breeds. Its name comes from its distinctive pointing stance, lowering its body and raising one foreleg when it finds game. Aristocratic, gentle and even-tempered, it needs a great deal of daily exercise, while its short coat is easy to maintain.
