The Dogo Argentino was created in Argentina's Cordoba region by Dr. Antonio Nores Martinez, who from 1928 crossed the old Cordoba fighting dog with Mastiffs, Bulldogs and Bull Terriers, selecting rigorously for a stable temperament. It became an outstanding big-game hunter of boar and puma and in 1973 was the first Argentinean breed recognized by the FCI. Cheerful and devoted yet powerful, it needs experienced handling, and hearing tests are advised due to its all-white coat.
