Fimbriaphyllia yaeyamaensis is a euphylliid stony coral described by Shohei Shirai in 1980; the epithet yaeyamaensis refers to the Yaeyama Islands. It was originally placed in Euphyllia and later treated under Botryphyllia, but the current WoRMS classification puts it in Fimbriaphyllia. Its short, densely set tentacles resemble those of hammer and frogspawn corals, but it reaches the trade far less often and is not commonly seen in aquaria. Care follows the rest of the family: moderate lighting with gentle low to moderate flow, avoiding strong direct current and abrupt changes in light. It stings neighbours with sweeper tentacles, so spacing is required. As a scleractinian it falls under CITES Appendix II and import requires a permit.
