The nanday conure (Aratinga nenday) occupies the Pantanal region from southeastern Bolivia and southwestern Brazil through Paraguay to northern Argentina. The plumage is green, and its defining feature is the black face and bill that give the bird its name. The upper breast is washed blue, the thigh feathers are red, and the tail is edged in blue. In captivity it is active and tames readily, and some individuals learn tricks and words. Escaped birds have established feral flocks in North America and elsewhere. From its former genus it is also traded as the Nandayus conure.
