What is a Sun Conure?

The Sun Conure (scientific name: Aratinga solstitialis) is a member of the Conure family native to tropical rainforests in northern South America (Venezuela, northern Brazil, and Guyana). When fully grown, this species is renowned for its spectacular plumage displaying a gradient of orange, yellow, and green that earns it the title of "living jewel."

Measuring approximately 30cm in length and weighing 100-120g, this medium-sized parrot is beloved worldwide as a pet due to its affectionate and active personality. Sun Conures tend to form deep bonds with their owners and are known as "shoulder birds" that enjoy being held.

However, they have exceptionally loud vocalizations, making soundproofing measures necessary for apartment or multi-unit housing. It is essential to fully understand this characteristic before bringing one home.
