The dusky-headed conure (Aratinga weddellii) occurs in riverine forest and lakeside woodland of the upper Amazon basin. Broad bare white eye-rings surround the eyes, and the bill is two-toned, black above and bluish below. No subspecies are recognised. In captivity it is considered quieter than most of its genus, and it is usually kept in small groups in line with its flocking habits. It remains uncommon in the trade. The IUCN assesses it as Least Concern.
