Micro Pig

The micro pig (also called teacup pig or miniature pig) is a collective term for selectively bred miniaturized domestic pig varieties. Adults typically measure 35–50 cm in height and weigh 15–40 kg—considerably larger than the 'teacup' marketing term implies. Prospective owners should be thoroughly informed that these animals grow substantially larger than they appear as piglets. Pigs are among the most intelligent domestic animals, capable of learning their names, solving puzzles, and performing trained behaviors comparable to dogs. They form strong bonds with their caretakers and are highly expressive. They require generous indoor or outdoor living space, non-slip flooring, and access to a sunbathing area. Strict portion control is essential, as pigs are prone to obesity when overfed. Diet consists of species-appropriate pig pellets, vegetables, and limited fruit. Optimal temperature is 18–26 °C; they are vulnerable to heat stress. Common health concerns include obesity, skin conditions, respiratory disease, and joint problems. Lifespan is 10–20 years.
