Small rabbit with fluffy wool-like coat. Quiet and gentle disposition with an adorable compact appearance.
The Jersey Wooly is a small wool-coated rabbit breed developed in New Jersey, USA in the 1980s by Bonnie Seeley, through crosses between French Angora and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Adults measure 20–25 cm and weigh 1.0–1.6 kg. They combine the luxurious wool coat of the Angora lineage with the compact, rounded body of the Netherland Dwarf, resulting in a small, fluffy rabbit of great appeal. Their temperament is generally gentle and calm, making them suitable for owners who want a manageable, affectionate companion. The wool coat requires brushing 2–3 times per week to prevent matting, with increased frequency during shedding seasons. Diet consists of unlimited timothy hay, limited pellets, and fresh vegetables. Common health issues include wool block, malocclusion, and GI stasis. Lifespan is 7–10 years.
