Heteropoda boiei (Doleschall, 1859) is a huntsman spider of the family Sparassidae, described in 1859. The distribution given by the World Spider Catalog is Malaysia and Indonesia (Sumatra, Java and Borneo), and GBIF holds many observations from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and Brunei. Heteropoda spiders do not build capture webs but hunt on the move. This species is sold for its mottled greenish colouring, and in the wild it has been photographed pressed flat against tree trunks in forest. In Japan specialist shops sell it, including captive-bred young, as a wandering spider other than tarantulas and jumping spiders.
