Acropora yongei
A branching Acropora described by Veron and Wallace in 1984. It is traded for its green colour forms under the name Green Slimer, and WoRMS records the English name Bali green stony coral. It lives at depths of 5-20 m.
Acropora yongei was described by Veron and Wallace in 1984. SeaLifeBase records it as reef-associated at depths of 5-20 m across the tropical Indo-Pacific, between 27N and 35S and from 41E to 175W. Its green colour forms circulate in the aquarium trade as Green Slimer, and WoRMS gives the English name Bali green stony coral. Its husbandry requirements are those of the genus: strong light, strong flow and a stable supply of alkalinity and calcium, with poor tolerance of sudden changes in water chemistry. The IUCN assessed it as Endangered in 2023 and it is listed on CITES Appendix II.

Mainly nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemented with powdered or liquid coral foods and phytoplankton.
Requires strong light. AlgaeBarn cites successful Acropora keeping at PAR 800 or more. Start newly added colonies under reduced light and raise it over several weeks.

Like other Acropora it prefers strong, randomised flow. Choose a position high on the rockwork where detritus cannot settle between the branches.
Water 22-26C, specific gravity 1.023-1.025, KH 8-12, calcium 380-440 ppm, magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Sudden swings in alkalinity are the most common cause of tissue loss.
Most of its nutrition comes from photosynthesis by its zooxanthellae. Powdered or liquid coral foods and phytoplankton can be offered as a supplement, but stable light and water chemistry matter more than feeding.
WoRMS gives the Japanese name yangu-midoriishi and the English name Bali green stony coral; the trade name is Green Slimer. Listed on CITES Appendix II, so international trade requires permits.
Advanced. This is an advanced-level species. It requires specialized equipment and advanced husbandry skills with precise environmental control.
The ideal temperature for Acropora Yongei (Green Slimer) is 24〜27℃. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
Acropora Yongei (Green Slimer) feeds on: Mainly nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemented with powdered or liquid coral foods and phytoplankton.. Aim for a balanced diet with appropriate feeding frequency.
