About
The Thai is dedicated to preserving the native pointed cat of Thailand, the Wichienmaat, in close to its original form, and is also known as the Old-Style Siamese; the breed diverged in the 1950s when breeders kept the moderate early-20th-century Siamese type, with native Thai cats imported from 2001 to preserve the gene pool. It is a medium to slightly large cat with a uniquely rounded upper head, wedge-shaped muzzle, very short coat, deep blue eyes and a whitish-beige body with dark points, moderate in every respect. Chatty, affectionate and athletic, it bonds strongly with its family, dislikes being left alone, and is clever enough to open cabinets and doors. Grooming is easy and the breed is considered generally healthy.
