About
The Neva Masquerade is the colorpoint variety of the Russian Siberian, recognized as a separate breed by FIFe while TICA and CFA include it within the Siberian; the first colorpoint Siberians were imported to the US in 1997, with the first colorpoint litter born in 1998. It shares the Siberian's powerful, rounded, heavily boned body, weather-resistant triple coat and slow maturation of up to five years, distinguished by blue eyes and pointed coloring. Calm, affectionate and playful yet undemanding, it is an exceptional jumper and a good therapy-cat candidate. The coat needs combing a few times a week, the breed is noted for reduced Fel d 1 allergen levels, and screening for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is recommended.
