Luxurious improved medaka with orange-red body color and external body light. Beautiful combination of orange-red body and external body light on the back, appealing in both top-view and side-view.
Ouka (Royal Flower) medaka is a luxurious improved variety with orange-red body color and external body light, bearing a name befitting its majestic, flower-like brilliance. The combination of warm orange-red body and external body light on the back is beautiful from both top and side views. External light ranges from weak to full-body, with individuals showing wide, uniform coverage being most prized. Close to Youkihi and Otohime lineages; carotenoid- and astaxanthin-rich color-enhancing food maintains and improves the vermilion coloration. Outdoor sunlight deepens body color further. White containers emphasize the body color contrast. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water. Selective breeding of wide-light, vividly colored individuals maintains and improves quality.
