Odontolabis wollastoni is given as a large Odontolabis of the Malay Peninsula and Sumatra in the species list on the English Wikipedia. The genus centres on island Southeast Asia and is richest in species on Sumatra. The elytra are wholly or partly yellow or pale in many species and some carry red or yellow on the middle of the head, though many others are entirely black. Its members gather at the fermented sap of various broadleaf trees and near houses will sometimes damage cultivated fruit. The male's mandibles vary sharply and discontinuously, falling into short, intermediate and long-toothed forms as body size increases. The larvae live in humus formed where broadleaf wood has rotted down close to soil, hollowing out a jar-shaped chamber that they hold as territory, attacking and sometimes eating insects and small animals that enter.
