Goliathus cacicus
A large West African goliath beetle unlike the others in the genus: males have silvery, iridescent elytra and an orange pronotum, while females are matt white, so the sexes differ markedly in colour.
Goliathus cacicus is a large goliath beetle of the West African rainforests; males measure 50-100 mm and females 58-79 mm. Structural differences in the elytra produce a striking sexual dichromatism: males look silvery and iridescent depending on the angle of view, while females are matt white. The orange-tinged pronotum also sets it apart within the genus. GBIF holds most records from Cote d'Ivoire (51) and Ghana (16). Ben's Beetle Breeding Pages notes that exports are rare because of the situation in the region, that the species is held to be harder to breed than the other Goliathus, and that no captive breeding is known to the author.

Plant Protection Act: When importing live specimens of Scarabaeoidea (including rhinoceros beetles, stag beetles, flower beetles, etc.), a species identification certificate issued by the exporting country government agency or equivalent must be attached in accordance with the Invasive Species Act (import ports are limited to Narita, Chubu, Kansai, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima airports). This species itself is not a designated invasive species, and import is possible upon submission of the certificate.

Adults take tree sap and fruit; larvae require animal protein
In Goliathus the temperature that suits the larvae is said to change with the stage of development, so avoid keeping them at one constant temperature, and do not let the substrate dry out.
As in the rest of the genus the larvae are strongly cannibalistic and have to be raised on high-protein food. Ben's Beetle Breeding Pages rates this species as harder to breed than the other Goliathus and says no captive breeding is known to the author.
Rear the larvae one per container. Adult males fight, so do not house them together, and do not mix the species with others.
In the congener Goliathus regius the larvae take about four months to mature and adults can live over a year in captivity; with little stock and few records for this species, plan along the same lines.
Live stock is rarely exported and seldom available. Importing it requires the species identification certificate demanded for live Scarabaeoidea. Animal food attracts mould and mites, so remove anything uneaten.
Advanced. This is an advanced-level species. It requires specialized equipment and advanced husbandry skills with precise environmental control.
The average lifespan of Cacicus Goliath Beetle is Adults 5-8 months. With proper care and nutrition, they can live a long and healthy life.
Cacicus Goliath Beetle typically reaches Males 50-100mm, females 58-79mm as an adult. Size may vary depending on care conditions and individual genetics.
Cacicus Goliath Beetle feeds on: Adults take tree sap and fruit; larvae require animal protein. Aim for a balanced diet with appropriate feeding frequency.
The price of Cacicus Goliath Beetle varies significantly depending on bloodline, size, captive-bred generation, and sex. Check our market price page for the latest pricing information.
