Corydidarum magnifica
An arboreal cockroach with a metallic green sheen. Adult females are wingless and only males have wings. Unusually for a cockroach it is diurnal, it climbs smooth surfaces, and females let nymphs shelter beneath their bodies.
The emerald cockroach (Corydidarum magnifica, traded as Pseudoglomeris magnifica) lives in Vietnam and southern China, typically under leaf litter or on tree bark. The whole body has a metallic green shine that can look blue in certain light. Adult females are wingless and only males bear wings. Unusually for a cockroach it is diurnal and strongly arboreal, climbing even smooth surfaces such as glass, and it does not eat its own shed exoskeleton after moulting. Females gestate their young for up to six months, and newly born nymphs shelter for a time between the legs and under the abdomen of adult females, which reportedly accept nymphs other than their own. When threatened the roaches clamp down hard onto the surface beneath them, a grip thought to defend against ant attacks. Unlike the related genus Perisphaerus they cannot roll into a ball.

Fish flakes, vegetables and fruit
Keep warm at 24-29 C. Hold air humidity high while ensuring good ventilation so the enclosure does not become stagnant.
Being strongly arboreal, it needs a tall enclosure with upright bark or cork. All stages climb smooth surfaces, so the lid must be secure.
They take fish flakes readily. Offer vegetables and fruit alongside.
No venom and no biting. When threatened they clamp onto the surface, and forcing them off can injure their legs.
Gestation lasts up to six months, so colonies build slowly. Being diurnal they are easy to watch, but take care they do not escape when the enclosure is opened.
Intermediate. This is an intermediate-level species. Some prior experience and knowledge of environmental management are recommended.
The ideal temperature for Emerald Cockroach is 24〜29℃. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
The average lifespan of Emerald Cockroach is About 1 year. With proper care and nutrition, they can live a long and healthy life.
Emerald Cockroach typically reaches About 30mm in males and 40mm in females as an adult. Size may vary depending on care conditions and individual genetics.
