Acropora millepora
A clumping Acropora with short cylindrical branches. Its radial corallites are uniform in size with projecting lower rims that give a scale-like look. Colour varies from green with orange branch tips to pale pink, orange, plain green or blue.
Acropora millepora is a reef-building acroporid found across the western and central Indo-Pacific, from the Red Sea, Kenya and South Africa to India, Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia and Australia. It grows in shallow water between two and twelve metres, mostly on reef flats but also on upper reef slopes and in lagoons. Colonies are clumps of short cylindrical branches; the radial corallites are all the same size and have projecting lower rims that give them a scale-like appearance. Colour ranges from green with orange branch tips through pale pink, orange, plain green and blue. It is zooxanthellate, and its larvae settle preferentially on vertical surfaces and encrusting coralline algae. In the aquarium, strong light, strong flow and stable alkalinity and calcium govern colour and growth. The IUCN lists it as Near Threatened, and as a scleractinian it is on CITES Appendix II.

Requires strong light. AlgaeBarn cites successful Acropora keeping at PAR 800 or more. Start newly added colonies under reduced light and raise it over several weeks.
Detritus settles between the branches, so give it strong, randomised flow. Place it high on the rockwork with enough space that it cannot touch neighbouring corals.
Water 22-26C, specific gravity 1.023-1.025, KH 8-12, calcium 380-440 ppm, magnesium 1300-1400 ppm. Sudden swings in alkalinity are the most common cause of tissue loss.
Most of its nutrition comes from photosynthesis by its zooxanthellae. Powdered or liquid coral foods and phytoplankton can be offered as a supplement, but stable light and water chemistry matter more than feeding.
A shallow-water species from 2-12 m, it is highly susceptible to bleaching and coral disease. As a scleractinian it is listed on CITES Appendix II and international trade requires permits.
Advanced. This is an advanced-level species. It requires specialized equipment and advanced husbandry skills with precise environmental control.
The ideal temperature for Acropora Millepora is 24〜27℃. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
Acropora Millepora feeds on: Mainly nutrition from symbiotic zooxanthellae, supplemented with powdered or liquid coral foods and phytoplankton.. Aim for a balanced diet with appropriate feeding frequency.
