Loaches in general are sensitive to sudden changes in water quality and tend to be highly susceptible to ich (Ichthyophthirus multifiliis). After purchase, always quarantine them in a separate tank for about 2 weeks to confirm their health before introducing them to the main tank. Acclimation should be done using the drip method over 60–90 minutes to avoid sudden changes in temperature and water chemistry. Perform water changes once per week, replacing 20–30% of the total water volume.
Schooling, Tankmates, and Behavior Observation
Loaches are highly social. Keeping only a few (1–2) individuals causes stress, and they often remain hidden in dark places and refuse to come out.
