Miniature version of the Satin Rabbit with the same lustrous coat in a compact size. Lively and curious with many color varieties.
The Mini Satin rabbit is a small breed developed in the United States in the early 2000s, created by crossing Satin rabbits with small breeds such as the Netherland Dwarf to produce a miniaturized version of the Satin's signature coat. Adults measure 30–38 cm and weigh 1.5–2.2 kg. The defining feature is the satin coat gene, which produces the same extraordinarily lustrous, silky sheen found in the standard Satin, but in a compact package. They are active and inquisitive, requiring a cage of at least 60 cm width and regular free-roaming exercise. The satin coat should be maintained with periodic brushing, and exposure to moisture should be avoided to preserve the characteristic gloss. Diet consists of unlimited timothy hay, species-appropriate pellets, and fresh vegetables. Common health concerns include dental malocclusion (due to compact skull structure), GI stasis, and fractures. Lifespan is 7–10 years.
