Aurora medaka is an improved variety combining semi-transparent scales with lame and external body light, creating an aurora-like shimmer that shifts through blue, green, pink, gold, and other colors depending on light angle. Like the northern lights, its fantastical color variation is the chief attraction — the same individual appears completely different colors depending on viewing angle and light source. Adaptable to both top-view and side-view observation styles. Hardy in 5–30°C, neutral to slightly alkaline water. Selective breeding of the most color-diverse individuals maintains strains with richer color shifts. Particularly spectacular under LED lighting and natural sunlight.
