Porcellio haasi
A large Spanish woodlouse with yellow spots on dark brown. One of the few isopods with a 'giant' line clearly larger than the nominate form. Needs a dry setup with strong ventilation and hides under dead wood and moss.
Porcellio haasi, described by Arcangeli in 1925, is a large Spanish woodlouse. The nominate form reaches about 25mm, while a captive-selected 'giant' line reaches about 35mm, making it one of the few isopods with a clearly larger line within the species. Yellow spots mark a dark brown ground, and bright, dark, 'High Yellow' and Bardenas-pattern lines are traded. Use a lid with a large vent or none at all, and moisten only one corner filled with leaf litter. By day it hides under dead wood and moss and flees from light. Feed leaf litter and rotten wood with vegetables, fruit, protein about twice a week and calcium. Breeding is fairly straightforward but seasonal, and juveniles take about nine months to mature.

The Haasi Isopod lives 1-2 years.
Lifespan is 1-2 years.
The Haasi Isopod grows to About 25mm (giant line about 35mm).
The ideal temperature for the Haasi Isopod is 22〜27℃. Ideal humidity is 45〜55%.
Dryness and airflow are the keys to care: keep at 22-27C, slightly above room temperature, and at 45-55% humidity, lower than for most isopods.

Leaf litter and rotten wood as staples, with vegetables, fruit, protein about twice a week and a calcium source.
22-27C and 45-55% humidity: slightly warmer than room temperature and drier than most isopods.
A lid with a large vent or no lid; moisten only one leaf-filled corner and provide dead wood and moss hides.
Keep leaf litter and rotten wood available; add vegetables, fruit, protein about twice a week and calcium.
Harmless and shy, fleeing quickly from light. Nocturnal. Keep in groups.
Sensitive to excess moisture and poor airflow. Breeding is seasonal and growth takes about nine months, so colonies build slowly.
Intermediate. This is an intermediate-level species. Some prior experience and knowledge of environmental management are recommended.
The ideal temperature for Haasi Isopod is 22〜27℃. Recommended humidity is 45〜55%. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
The average lifespan of Haasi Isopod is 1-2 years. With proper care and nutrition, they can live a long and healthy life.
Haasi Isopod typically reaches About 25mm (giant line about 35mm) as an adult. Size may vary depending on care conditions and individual genetics.
Haasi Isopod feeds on: Leaf litter and rotten wood as staples, with vegetables, fruit, protein about twice a week and a calcium source.. Aim for a balanced diet with appropriate feeding frequency.
