Stichodactyla tapetum, commonly called the maxi-mini carpet anemone, is a small stichodactylid found in the tropical Indo-Pacific, primarily around Vietnam. It lives near shores and in tidepools. The oral disc is covered in groups of bump-like tentacles that are not packed tightly, leaving the disc visible between them. The tentacle tips are rounded and commonly green or brown, though red, purple and orange forms are also common and are traded by colour as maxi-minis. It can sting but is not an aggressive anemone, and its small size and ease of propagation suit it to nano aquaria. It is, however, one of the few anemones that can cause a severe reaction in humans, so it needs care in handling. Unlike the large carpet anemones it is not known to host clownfish, although anemone crabs and shrimp are often seen on and around it.
