Cyprus is notably home to one of the oldest known evidence of cat domestication, with a 9,500-year-old burial site. The Aphrodite is a large, muscular cat adapted to the mountainous terrain of Cyprus. Both short-haired and long-haired varieties exist. They are gentle, affectionate, and highly adaptable, with the robust health typical of a natural landrace breed. The breed is recognized by WCF.
