The Sarasa Comet is a Comet goldfish—with its long, streaming tail—showing a sarasa pattern of mingled red and white. Its slim Wakin/carp-shaped body trailing a large, long tail as it swims is beautiful, and the cool red-and-white contrast makes it popular. Comet-types are very hardy, cold-tolerant, and strong swimmers, making them ideal not only for large tanks but also for outdoor ponds and water gardens, and easy enough for beginners. Being omnivorous, feed mainly prepared foods supplemented with vegetable-based foods and bloodworms. House it in a roomy tank (60 liters or more) or an outdoor pond with good filtration and regular water changes. Active and hearty-appetited, it is not suited to housing with slow round-bodied varieties and is best kept with other active Wakin- or Comet-type fish.
