Echinophyllia sp.
Plate-shaped LPS coral. Eye-like patterns and fluorescent colors popular with collectors. Many high-value specimens.
Chalice corals (formerly family Pectiniidae, now reclassified within Lobophylliidae and related families) are large-polyped stony corals with chalice-shaped or encrusting growth forms. Native to reef slopes and walls of the Indo-Pacific, they display spectacular fluorescent greens, reds, purples, and oranges under reef LED lighting—driving a robust collector market with some color morphs commanding high prices. They prefer low to moderate lighting (100–200 PAR) and gentle indirect flow; strong direct light causes bleaching. Target feeding one to two times weekly enhances growth and intensifies coloration. Adequate spacing is needed to account for their sweeper tentacles.

It prefers low to moderate lighting (100-200 PAR). Strong light causes fading, so take care not to overexpose it.
Gentle indirect flow suits it; place it in a partly shaded spot in the lower to middle tank. It has sweeper tentacles, so keep space from neighbours.
Keep the temperature stable at 24-27°C. Since it grows slowly, maintaining consistent conditions over the long term without big changes is important.
It responds well to feeding; target feeding 1-2 times a week promotes growth and fluorescent colouration.
Slow growing. Attacks corals it contacts
Intermediate. This is an intermediate-level species. Some prior experience and knowledge of environmental management are recommended.
The ideal temperature for Chalice Coral is 24〜27℃. Avoid sudden temperature changes and maintain a stable environment.
The average lifespan of Chalice Coral is 10+ years with proper care. With proper care and nutrition, they can live a long and healthy life.
Chalice Coral typically reaches 10-30cm as an adult. Size may vary depending on care conditions and individual genetics.
Chalice Coral feeds on: Photosynthesis + feeding recommended. Aim for a balanced diet with appropriate feeding frequency.
