About this condition

A severe condition where coral tissue rapidly dissolves within hours. The cause is often unclear, and infection can spread to neighboring corals quickly.

Common symptoms

• Tissue melts within hours
• White skeleton exposed
• Foul odor
• Infection spreads to surrounding corals

Common causes

• Bacterial infection
• Sudden water quality changes
• Stress
• Often the cause remains unknown

Prevention (husbandry & daily care)

Maintain stable water quality, dip new corals before introduction, avoid overcrowding.
