The Minuet is a relatively young breed established around 2001 by American breeder Joseph Smith, originally called the "Napoleon." The goal was to combine the Munchkin's characteristic short legs with the Persian's lush coat and gentle disposition; the breed is now recognized by TICA. Its most distinctive features are short limbs, a rounded head, and large almond-shaped eyes, available in both shorthair and longhair varieties with a wide range of coat colors and patterns. In Japan, the breed has surged in popularity in recent years thanks to its irresistibly charming appearance.
