A progressive decline in kidney function that impairs waste elimination, commonly seen in cats over 7 years of age. While it cannot be cured, dietary management and regular monitoring can help slow progression.

• Weight loss and muscle wasting
• Vomiting and reduced appetite
• Dull coat and lethargy

• Age-related degeneration of kidney tissue
• Chronic inflammation or infection
• Genetic predisposition (e.g., Persians)
• Chronic dehydration or dietary factors

Schedule regular health checks (twice yearly for seniors), always provide fresh water, and maintain proper nutrition. SDMA testing is recommended for early detection.
