What determines the price
Size and uniformity of the hood (zukin)
HighEvaluation focuses on the size of the hood covering the head and its even development on both sides. The larger and more uniform the hood, the more distinctive the breed characteristics.
Length and spread of tail fins
HighLong and elegantly spreading tail fins are the charm of this variety. Tails that are long and spread evenly on both sides receive higher evaluation.
Vividness of body color and sarasa (calico) pattern
MediumThe vividness of solid color, sarasa, tri-color, and other color patterns affects ornamental value.
Body form balance
MediumThe body form is stable and substantial, with well-balanced proportions among tail form, body length, and hood.
Appraisal points
Confirm the uniformity of the hood

- Good:
- The hood spreads evenly across both sides and front-to-back of the head with minimal unevenness.
- Caution:
- If the hood covers the eyes too much, it may obstruct vision and affect swimming ability and health.
Examine the condition of the tail fin.
- Good:
- Tail fins are long and even on both sides, with fins spreading cleanly.
- Caution:
- Tail fins that collapse, are too short, or develop only on one side receive lower evaluation.
Confirm health status
- Good:
- Swims actively with no wounds or signs of disease on the body surface; fins are erect.
- Caution:
- Sinking to the bottom, folded fins, or white spots and congestion on the body surface indicate health issues.
