Agave funkiana
A medium agave from Coahuila to Nuevo León, Mexico. Forms an elegant rosette of long, narrow green leaves. Rich in fibers traditionally used for brushes and other products.
Agave funkiana is a small to medium agave native to dry hillsides at 500–1,500 m elevation in Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and San Luis Potosí in northeastern Mexico. Its slender gray-green to blue-green leaves radiate outward to form an open, airy rosette silhouette. The leaves are somewhat flexible, tapering gradually toward the tip. Marginal teeth are small, giving the plant an overall graceful appearance. Mature rosettes reach 50–80 cm in diameter and tend to produce offsets, forming clusters. Cold-hardy to approximately -5°C, it can be grown outdoors in temperate regions provided the environment is dry. Among narrow-leaved agaves, it is relatively easy to manage and well-suited for rock gardens and xeriscape plantings.
