Miniature rose with clusters of purple to lavender small blooms. Surprisingly strong sweet fragrance for a mini rose. Excellent repeat-blooming. Ideal for hanging baskets.
Bred by Ralph Moore (USA) in 1984 and an ARS Award of Excellence winner, 'Sweet Chariot' is remarkable for producing a strong, sweet fragrance that is exceptional among miniature roses. Its small lavender to purple blooms are borne in large clusters on naturally pendant branches, making it exceptionally well suited to hanging baskets where the cascading habit can be displayed to full effect. Repeat-blooming is prolific from spring through autumn. Growing to 30–60cm, it thrives in containers and is small enough for window-box planting, where its fragrance can drift indoors. The dense branching habit benefits from periodic thinning to maintain good air circulation and prevent fungal issues.
