Rosa 'Pierre de Ronsard'
The world's most beloved climbing rose. Large cupped blooms with cream outer petals and pink center. World Rose Hall of Fame 2006. Disease-resistant and easy to grow.
Bred by Meilland (France) in 1985 and inducted into the World Rose Hall of Fame in 2006, 'Pierre de Ronsard' is one of the most celebrated climbing roses of the modern era. Its large, cupped blooms — 10–12cm across — display a breathtaking gradient of cream-white outer petals deepening to rich rose-pink at the center, giving each flower a painterly, old-rose character. The fragrance is light but pleasant. Vigorous canes reach 3–5m and are well-suited to training on fences, arches, and pergolas. Disease resistance is excellent, particularly against black spot. Primarily once-blooming in spring, with occasional autumn rebloom. Training main canes horizontally encourages lateral shoots to produce abundant flower buds. Winter pruning should focus on removing old canes while retaining vigorous young growth.
